Executed trade volume records transactions reported by a venue or feed. Quote updates and displayed order-book size describe different activity. A displayed order can change or be cancelled without a trade, while a transaction can occur without revealing the participant’s broader intention.
Delta commonly compares buyer-initiated and seller-initiated executed volume, but the classification depends on the feed and method. It is not a count of all buyers minus all sellers: every transaction has both sides.

Put the data source in the journal
Write down the instrument, venue or provider, session boundary and volume type. Spot forex tick activity and exchange-reported contract volume are not interchangeable. The forex volume guide explains that distinction.
Use order flow as one recorded observation in a testable process. A cluster or imbalance describes the observed sample and does not guarantee a later price move. Check current chart and data availability inside the platform.

Is order flow the same as volume profile?
No. Order flow is a broader analysis of trading activity. A volume profile aggregates activity by price across a chosen range.
Does every forex feed provide executed trade volume?
No. Some forex and CFD volume displays use tick activity. Check the provider’s definition before treating it as executed market volume.
